To ensure hygiene, it is recommended to wash the mat at least once a week if used frequently.
When washing, you can use a small amount of dish soap or neutral detergent diluted with water, spray or wipe the mat, then rinse with clean water and dry with a clean cloth. Avoid using disinfectant directly, as this may corrode the mat and shorten its lifespan.
After washing, place the mat in a cool, ventilated place to air dry, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent cracking and peeling. When not in use, it is recommended to roll it up and store it properly, avoiding folding.
If the yoga mat becomes sticky, slippery after being wet, sheds fibers, develops cracks or permanent stains, or is difficult to flatten, consider replacing it.
To reduce the risk of cross-infection, it is recommended that practitioners bring their own yoga mat. If using a shared yoga mat, a clean yoga towel can be placed on top for isolation.
