Product Definition

What Is EVA Foam?

EVA foam — ethylene vinyl acetate foam — is a closed-cell copolymer foam that serves as an effective substitute for a range of traditional cushioning materials.

An EVA foam sheet is a closed-cell foam panel produced by compounding ethylene vinyl acetate resin with foaming agents and performance additives, then expanding and moulding the compound into sheets, rolls or finished shapes. Because the cells are sealed and not interconnected, the material absorbs very little water and recovers its shape quickly after compression.

Buyers choose EVA foam where cushioning, low weight and resistance to water and chemicals matter at the same time — from footwear midsoles and gym flooring to protective packaging and industrial die-cut parts.

Who buys this product?

  • Footwear and sole manufacturers
  • Fitness, sports and play-mat brands
  • Packaging and protective-solutions suppliers
  • Building, automotive and industrial converters
  • Retail chains and private-label programs
  • Importers and regional distributors

Types

Types of EVA Foam We Supply

Our range is organised into three supply forms — roll, plain sheet and embossed sheet — each produced in the density, hardness and colour your application requires.

01

EVA foam roll

Continuous closed-cell foam supplied in rolls for flooring, lamination lines and long-format cutting — the practical format when the finished product runs in continuous lengths.

02

EVA foam plain sheet

Smooth-faced sheet for footwear components, craft and stationery ranges, die-cut parts and layered builds, supplied cut to size.

03

EVA foam embossed sheet

Sheet with a heat-embossed grain — bone, circle, diamond and many other patterns — used for mats, automotive liners and wall protection where surface grip and appearance matter.

04

Closed cell construction

All three forms share the same closed-cell structure. Sealed, non-interconnected cells give low water absorption and reliable long-term resilience — the reason EVA foam is specified instead of open-cell alternatives.

05

Density and hardness grading

Low density grades are soft and highly compressible; high density EVA foam is firmer with greater wear resistance. Hardness is quoted on the Shore A scale and confirmed per project.

06

Moulded and die-cut parts

Beyond sheet and roll, we mould EVA components for footwear soles and produce die-cut shapes to your drawing.

Selection Guide

How to Choose EVA Foam

A practical selection sequence for distributors, converters and project buyers.

01

Define the application

Confirm whether the product is for footwear, flooring, packaging, insulation or an industrial component.

02

Set density and hardness

Balance cushioning, rebound and standing stability against the load the material has to carry.

03

Check the load path

Narrow feet and heavy static equipment can indent foam. Confirm the load is within the material's range.

04

Approve surface and colour

Assess grip, cleaning and two-tone appearance on a physical sample before committing to production.

Common Buying Mistakes

Common Buying Mistakes

Resolve these points before sample approval to reduce specification changes, installation risk and avoidable freight cost.

01

Using EVA under concentrated heavy loads

Foam can indent beneath narrow equipment feet or heavy racks. A load-rated system is often the better choice.

02

Choosing softness without stability

A comfortable hand feel may not support fast standing movement or repeated pivoting.

03

Specifying the wrong hardness scale

Shore A and Shore C are different scales. Confirm which one your quotation is quoted on before comparing suppliers.

04

Mixing production colours

Approve one coordinated colour programme so the delivered field, panels and parts match.

05

Trapping moisture underneath

Inspect and dry the substrate before installation, and keep joints and the underside dry afterwards.

06

Assuming price without a specification

Density, hardness, thickness and colour all move the price. Quote from a defined sample, not a product name.

Material Comparison

EVA Foam vs. Other Foam Materials

Choosing the right foam affects cushioning, weight and service life. Here is how EVA foam compares with the materials most often considered alongside it.

Property EVA foam PE foam PU foam EPDM / rubber foam
Cell structure Closed-cell Closed-cell Mostly open-cell Closed-cell
Cushioning & resilience Excellent Moderate Good Good
Water absorption Very low Very low Can absorb moisture Low
Weight Very light Very light Heavier Heavier
UV & weather resistance Good Moderate Moderate Excellent
Chemical resistance Good Good Limited Excellent
Surface feel Soft, skin-friendly Firmer, waxy Soft Firm, dense
Typical use Footwear, mats, packaging, sports Insulation, packaging Cushioning, upholstery Outdoor seals, roofing

Which one should you choose?

Choose EVA foam when you need soft cushioning with good water and UV resistance at low weight. For maximum weather resistance in outdoor sealing, EPDM foam is a better fit; for rigid insulation, PE foam is more suitable. We supply all three, so the recommendation is not tied to a single material.

Care & Use

How to Maintain EVA Foam

Routine care keeps EVA foam performing and looking consistent for years.

01

Clean regularly

Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge using mild soap and water. Avoid strong solvents and abrasive cleaners.

02

Avoid sharp objects

EVA foam resists tearing, but sharp edges and excessive force can still cut it during handling and storage.

03

Keep away from prolonged heat

High density EVA foam handles heat well, but long exposure to heaters, stoves or direct flame can deform it.

04

Store correctly

Store EVA foam rolls and sheets flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping.

Precautions for use

Ensure the foam is fully dry before installation or packaging. For bonding, use an EVA-compatible adhesive applied under even pressure. For flooring underlay, let the material acclimatise for 24 hours before laying to avoid dimensional changes.

Quality & Compliance

Certifications & Quality Control

Quality and safety sit at the core of our operations. Every batch is tested before it leaves the factory.

Certifications

Our EVA foam products pass REACH, ROHS, EN71 and Formamide testing, supporting import into European, American and other regulated markets. Our material experience also allowed us to contribute to establishing the Chinese national quality standard for EVA mats.
