What Is EVA Foam And What Are Its Uses

EVA foam is a porous material made from EVA material through a foaming process. Also known as EVA foam, it combines the characteristics of both EVA and foam. Its production involves adding a foaming agent to EVA raw materials and heating it at high temperatures to decompose the agent and produce gas, forming a foam structure filled with tiny pores. These pores can be classified as closed-cell or open-cell; closed-cell foam has stronger waterproof properties, while open-cell foam has better breathability. Key characteristics of EVA foam: lightweight, excellent elasticity, good cushioning and shock absorption; soft to the touch, non-irritating; waterproof, moisture-proof, and low-temperature resistant; easy to process, can be cut and stamped into any shape. Common uses: packaging (shockproof packaging for electronic products, cushioning for fragile items), footwear (midsole and insoles for sports shoes), home furnishings (floor mats, sofa cushion filling), sporting goods (knee pads, elbow pad linings, surfboard anti-slip mats), medical applications (wheelchair cushions, medical protective pads), etc. It is one of the most widely used foam materials.
